About National Fire Group
National Fire Group is a fire protection company in Sydney focused on delivering structured, compliant fire solutions across construction, strata, and commercial assets.
Our Story Since 2007
Established in 2007, National Fire Group is an Australian-owned, family-operated fire protection company based in Sydney. Founded by Director Heath Whaley, who brings over 20 years’ experience in the fire industry, the business has grown from the ground up into a trusted provider known for quality, precision and care.
Heath’s career spans major infrastructure projects including the Lane Cove Tunnel and Cross City Tunnel, giving him a depth of technical and on-the-ground experience that shapes how National Fire Group operates today. Pierre Sleiman later joined as Partner and Director, bringing over 10 years’ experience in the fire industry alongside construction management experience with Tier 1 builders, with engineering and project management expertise. Together, their hands-on trade background and construction management expertise mean the business operates on genuine fire protection knowledge, not management theory alone.
Today, National Fire Group combines enterprise capability with personalised service. We deliver end-to-end fire protection services for consultants, builders, developers, councils, owners’ corporations and building managers across commercial, residential, industrial and aged care facilities, aligned with Australian Standards and the Building Code of Australia.
Mission and Values
Our mission is to protect lives and assets by delivering fire protection services that are clear, accountable, and aligned with compliance requirements. We focus on providing a complete service that supports clients from construction through to ongoing maintenance.
Compliance Certainty as a standard
We approach every project with a focus on Compliance Certainty. This means providing structured reporting, verified system performance, and documentation that supports audits and certification.
Clients are given clear information about their systems, including what is compliant, what requires attention, and how issues can be resolved.
Clear communication and accountability
Fire compliance can be complex, particularly when multiple systems and regulations are involved. Our role is to present this information in a way that is practical and easy to understand.
We prioritise accountability across all fire scopes, ensuring there is a clear point of responsibility for delivery, reporting, and outcomes. This reduces confusion and supports more effective decision-making.
Directors and Leadership
National Fire Group is led by directors Heath & Pierre, whose combined experience reflects both technical capability and a practical understanding of the industry.
Leadership with industry experience
Heath’s background in large-scale infrastructure projects provides a strong foundation in system design, installation, and coordination. This experience is applied across all projects, ensuring delivery aligns with both technical and operational requirements.
Building a people-focused company
The company was built with a focus on people—both within the business and across its client relationships. This includes maintaining clear communication, supporting long-term partnerships, and delivering consistent outcomes.
This approach ensures that projects are not only technically compliant but also managed in a way that supports collaboration and reliability.
Credentials and Licences
Delivering fire protection services requires adherence to strict standards, qualifications, and regulatory requirements. National Fire Group operates with the necessary licences and accreditations to support compliant delivery across all services.
Why In-House Delivery Matters
Many fire protection projects involve multiple contractors managing different systems. This can lead to gaps in communication, inconsistent advice, and delays in resolving issues.
One accountable provider
By delivering services in-house, National Fire Group provides a single point of accountability across fire systems. This ensures all elements are aligned and managed consistently.
Reduced gaps across fire systems
Fragmented delivery can create gaps between detection, suppression, and passive systems. Our approach reduces these gaps by coordinating all aspects of fire protection within one structured process.
Consistent reporting and outcomes
In-house delivery allows for consistent reporting, making it easier to track compliance, identify issues, and plan future works.
This approach supports more reliable outcomes and reduces the risk of unresolved defects or compliance gaps.
